In Portugal, Mercan Properties boasts nine years of innovation and experience, standing out in hotel investment and development, focusing on managing tourist properties. Currently, it has a portfolio of 31 projects in Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia, Matosinhos, Lisbon, Amarante, Évora, Beja, Santiago do Cacém, Algarve, and Madeira, endorsed by renowned international brands such as Hilton, Marriott, IHG, Wyndham, and Hard Rock.

“Following Mercan Properties' management model, where it is necessary to outsource some technical components, particularly in IT areas such as project consulting and execution supervision in its hotel units, Decunify plays a fundamental role. It provides full support to project offices and construction supervision to ensure everything is executed as planned,” the company states on its website.

Paulo Ferreira, CSO of Decunify, highlights on the company's website that “all implemented projects required careful planning and execution, respecting construction timings or periods of low occupancy.” The challenges that arose were overcome through close collaboration between our technical team and Mercan Properties, always aiming for constant innovation and guest satisfaction.

Marco Correia, CIO of Mercan Properties, emphasizes that today, technology is an extremely important component of the hotel experience. He further notes that “if we neglect the digital experience of the guest, we are compromising their overall experience.”

Decunify implements and integrates its IT components for telecommunications and security, which serve as a foundation for the numerous third-party entities each hotel needs. As Marco Correia, CIO of Mercan Properties, states, “Decunify enters projects at a very early stage, in coordination with Mercan Properties' IT team, to develop ITED planning, from passives, networking, telephone systems, TV systems, and microinformatics. They plan the entire technological infrastructure.”

To achieve this, Decunify relies on close partnerships with renowned manufacturers such as Aruba/HPE for LAN and WLAN, Palo Alto for logical security, and Nonius for VoIP, IPTV, and Cast. Marco Correia highlights Decunify's relationship with the manufacturers, noting that it not only facilitates technology but also implements it, escalates problems, and opens a channel to the manufacturer. He concludes that “there is no obfuscation of the customer experience.”

In the past five years, Decunify has had the privilege of implementing advanced technological solutions in more than 10 Mercan Properties hotels, contributing to the operational success of these hotel installations. Marco Correia of Mercan Properties highlights Decunify as “the most important strategic partner in technology areas” and mentions that “they are present at all stages” of the projects.

Examples of notable projects include Hotel Casa da Companhia, Vignette Collection, Fontinha Porto, Trademark Collection by Wyndham, Sé Catedral Hotel Porto, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, and most recently, the Renaissance Porto Lapa Hotel. In Matosinhos, the Four Points by Sheraton Matosinhos, in Amarante, the Casa das Lérias, and Hilton Garden Inn Évora.

Paulo Ferreira, CSO of Decunify, mentions that the company is currently preparing and planning future implementations in hotels under construction, such as the Holiday Inn Express Porto-Boavista. “From the beginning of the construction process, we are involved in discussions and collaborations with the architecture and engineering teams to ensure that the technological infrastructures are properly integrated,” he states.
