“The CPCC’s mission is to strengthen Canada-Portugal economic relations, promoting, on both sides of the Atlantic, a vibrant business community that thrives on collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth”, says the business association.

Lisbon hosts the headquarters of the new Canada-Portugal Chamber of Commerce (CPCC), which was launched this month, to strengthen business opportunities between the two countries. Patrícia Almeida, vice-president of CGI, is the business association's chairwoman.

“The CPCC’s mission is to strengthen Canada-Portugal economic relations by promoting, on both sides of the Atlantic, a vibrant business community that thrives on collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth. As a chamber of commerce, the CPCC will seek to offer its members networking opportunities, business resources, and advocacy support, building bridges between companies, entrepreneurs, and professionals on both sides of the Atlantic,” the entity said.

The CPCC adds that it has the support of the Canadian Embassy in Portugal, and is in “contact with the Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade of Portugal – AICEP – to establish an effective path for successful business initiatives”.

Farah Mulji, director of ImpactVine Advisors, and Alexis Bourson, entrepreneur and investor, were introduced as co-presidents of the association. Élise Racicot, Ambassador of Canada to Portugal, says that the Canada-Portugal Chamber of Commerce “promises to be a fundamental platform in promoting partnerships and opportunities for Canadian and Portuguese companies”, adding that, today, “economic relations between Canada and Portugal are increasingly focusing on the industries of the future”.

“The Canada-Portugal trade relationship has evolved tremendously in recent years, building on long-standing ties and vibrant diasporas on both sides of the Atlantic, leveraging the benefits of the EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), but also adapting to addressing pressing global issues, including climate change, ocean conservation, the transition to green energy and energy security”, analyzed the diplomat.

Current members of the CPCC include CGI, Mercan Properties, Somincor, Jolera, Abreu Advogados, and Imagis, among others.

“As a global Canadian company, CGI has in its DNA the diversity of its wide geographic distribution in more than 40 countries around the world, where we seek to showcase the best that each geography has to offer the group and its customers and partners. Therefore, it is with great satisfaction that CGI is co-founder of the Canada-Portugal Chamber of Commerce, which will, without a doubt, be a space for collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth between countries that have been linked for many years”, says Patrícia Almeida, vice-president of CGI, mentioned in the statement.

“CPCC is actively working to bring more and more members to join and benefit from the unique opportunities of this community”, adds the same note.
