Two Hilton-branded hotels, developed by Mercan Properties, are being built near the marina, enhancing public spaces. The investment amounts to €107.8 million.

The area surrounding Lagos Marina, in the Algarve, is undergoing a major redevelopment. Leading this transformation is Mercan Properties, in partnership with DST, with the construction of two new hotels. This investment of €107.8 million will not only bring high-end accommodation to the region but also improve public spaces and enhance the overall experience for visitors and residents. The hotels are expected to open in 2026.

The land adjacent to Lagos Marina was acquired by Mercan Properties in February 2022 from Infraestruturas de Portugal. Now, two Hilton-branded hotels are being developed as part of Mercan’s ongoing commitment to strengthening Portugal’s hospitality sector:

Lagos Marina Hotel Curio Collection by Hilton – A 5-star Mercan hotel, featuring 180 rooms, a restaurant, two bars, a terrace, and swimming pools. The total construction area will be 14,776 square meters.
Hilton Garden Inn Lagos – A 4-star Mercan hotel, offering 90 rooms (including 27 suites), a bar, a restaurant, a gym, and an outdoor swimming pool, with a total construction area of 7,505 square meters.

Both hotels will also include meeting spaces and provide over 160 parking spaces. Additionally, approximately 2,000 square meters will be dedicated to outdoor areas, ensuring a vibrant and inviting atmosphere.

As part of the broader redevelopment project, the old train station will be transformed into a café and restaurant by a separate private entity. Furthermore, the Lagos railway museum will be restored, and new residential and commercial buildings will be developed on the opposite side of the marina, further enhancing the area’s appeal.

With this investment, Mercan Properties continues to play a key role in the transformation of Portugal’s tourism landscape, delivering world-class hospitality experiences in prime locations.
