Moxy Alfragide Lisboa Opens Its Doors: A Grand Debut To Energize The City’s Hotel Scene

Summer isn’t over yet, and there’s a new hotel that promises to extend the good energy of the season and bring a fresh beat to Greater Lisbon’s hospitality universe. Moxy Alfragide Lisboa opened today, bringing with it an irreverent, accessible, and personality-driven approach to hospitality, designed for those seeking a relaxed offer and a central location as a starting point to explore the many areas of the Lisbon region.
Owned by Mercan Properties and managed by AHM – Ace Hospitality Management, a leading company in the operation of international hotel brands in Portugal, this is the newest Moxy unit, part of the exceptional Marriott Bonvoy portfolio. The project represents an investment of €63 million and created nearly 400 direct and indirect jobs.
Just a few minutes from the capital’s center, Moxy Alfragide Lisboa is more than a hotel: it is a dynamic meeting point for diverse guest profiles, including digital nomads, creative entrepreneurs, and leisure travelers seeking a comfortable and enjoyable stay with all essential services and a touch of style. And because, for Moxy, “accessible” is more than just an adjective, everyone is welcome - including four-legged friends, for whom the hotel provides beds and bowls. The hotel also stands out for its strong corporate profile, benefiting from its privileged location in Alfragide’s business district and a versatile offer of spaces and solutions for the MICE segment.
With 218 rooms of various typologies, including twin rooms, queen rooms, suites, and rooms for guests with reduced mobility, the hotel combines functionality, design, and a unique character. As dictated by the Moxy philosophy, check-in takes place at the Bar Moxy, accompanied by a welcome drink. From there, the experience is built on a relaxed atmosphere and a warm, creative touch that can be felt throughout the property, from the design of the spaces to the relationship between the team and the guests.
Moxy Alfragide Lisboa offers a heated indoor pool, gym, and four meeting rooms, totaling 394 m² of event space and capacity for up to 500 people. But the beating heart of the hotel is its interior garden courtyard, with capacity for up to 200 people—a versatile, naturally lit space, ideal for corporate events, private parties, and social gatherings.
“The opening of Moxy Alfragide Lisboa represents a significant step for Mercan Properties, as it is the first hotel we open in the Lisbon region—and the beginning of our presence in the Portuguese capital, where we already have several other projects under development. This new opening reflects the solid foundation we have built in other regions of the country, such as the North and Alentejo, where our hotels continue to stand out as references in the cities where they are located. We believe this opening also reflects the continued trust placed in us by our international hospitality partners. We remain committed to developing projects that meet the highest international standards and generate real economic and social value—through job creation, regional development, and positioning Portugal as a world-class tourism destination,” states Jordi Vilanova, President of Mercan Properties.
“We are delighted to welcome another prestigious brand to the AHM portfolio. This is the 15th hotel under our management—and our very first property in Lisbon. By introducing a vibrant lifestyle brand, this hotel brings a fresh and dynamic approach to hospitality, uniquely combining fun and style. It is the ideal choice for both leisure and business guests, and a new way to live and enjoy what we love most: exceptional hospitality,” adds Mariano Faz, CEO of AHM – Ace Hospitality Management.
Located in the heart of Alfragide, the hotel is 10 minutes from Belém, 15 minutes from Lisbon Airport or the beaches along the Cascais coast, and 20 minutes from downtown Lisbon.
Accessibility and centrality make Moxy Alfragide Lisboa a perfect option for both leisure and business travel. By combining accommodation, dining, and events, the hotel positions itself as a dynamic hub for leisure and business. The opening aims to shake up Lisbon’s hospitality map with renewed energy.
