If this year’s trip to Rio de Janeiro didn’t make it off the drawing board, the Renaissance Porto Lapa Hotel presents a worthy alternative to mark Carnival. Next Tuesday, February 16, the hotel celebrates the date with a themed dinner inspired by Rio’s Carnival, bringing together Brazilian cuisine and a live samba circle, in a program designed to extend the night and get into the spirit of the celebration.

The dinner takes place at the hotel’s restaurant and highlights the most iconic flavors of Brazilian cuisine, with a special focus on Rio de Janeiro, the city where samba was born. The concept features a buffet accompanied by live musical entertainment.

The experience begins with a selection of traditional starters, such as chicken coxinhas, tapioca cubes, pão de queijo, and acarajé with shrimp. This is followed by a salad section, with several fresh options that allow for lighter combinations before the main dishes.

One of the central moments of the buffet is the live showcooking station, featuring a Brazilian-style grilled rodízio. Cuts served include picanha, chicken hearts, fresh sausage, coxinhas, and grilled pineapple. To accompany them, classic dishes like farofa, fried banana, collard greens, fish moqueca, and feijoada are all part of the spread, designed for sharing and lingering over the meal.

Desserts wrap up the dinner with classic Brazilian flavors. Options include creamy canjica with paçoquinha, Pernambuco-style bolo de rolo, white cocada, and banana pavê with dulce de leche.

Throughout the night, the buffet includes beverages such as still and sparkling water, soft drinks, natural juices, draft beer, and wine pairings selected by the restaurant’s sommelier. The entertainment is provided by a live samba circle, which accompanies the dinner and enhances the Carnival atmosphere.

The Carnival dinner at the Renaissance Porto Lapa Hotel takes place on February 16, starting at 7:00 p.m., and costs €55 per person. Seating is limited, and reservations can be made by calling 916 876 093 or emailing restaurant@renaissanceportolapa.com.
