Serões à Mesa Returns to Forno da Telha with Dinner and Comedy by Jorge Serafim

Serões à Mesa is returning to Forno da Telha in Évora, next to Holiday Inn Express Évora, for a new edition that begins, quite literally, “in the cool evening air.” On September 4, the restaurant will bring the experience outdoors, by the pool, combining Alentejo-inspired cuisine with Jorge Serafim’s comedy in an evening designed to extend those late-summer nights around the table.

Serões à Mesa is a dinner series that celebrates the end of the day in true Alentejo style, bringing together gastronomy, wine, and entertainment in a relaxed atmosphere. Inspired by the tradition of lingering over meals in good company, the concept invites guests to enjoy Forno da Telha’s menu accompanied by music or comedy.

The program begins at 7:00 p.m. with a Gin dos Marmelos welcome drink, followed at 7:45 p.m. by a dinner designed to be shared at a leisurely pace. Jorge Serafim’s show will then begin at 9:45 p.m.

Alentejo Flavors Take Center Stage

Upon arriving at the table, guests will find a selection of appetizers, including Alentejo Sourdough Bread, Forno da Telha Olive Oil, Marinated Olives, Pata Negra Ham, Nisa Cheese and Pumpkin Jam, Breaded Head Cheese, Alentejo Gazpacho and Sardine Roll, and Marrow Bone with Bolete Mushroom Tartare.

For the main course, each guest can choose from three dishes: Cod with an Olive Crust, Chickpea Purée and Cod Tripe Stew; Mertolenga Beef, Pea Cream and Potato Mille-Feuille; or, as a vegetarian option, Bean Steak, Sweet Potato Cream and Shallot Reduction.

To finish, there are two dessert options: Honey and Walnut with Lemon Sorbet, or Fresh Fruit. Dinner includes alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, including Monte da Bonança white and red wines.

Jorge Serafim Brings Comedy to the Table

At 9:45 p.m., Jorge Serafim will take center stage with a stand-up comedy show. Originally from Beja, Jorge Serafim is a comedian and writer with a career spanning several decades, closely connected to oral storytelling and the promotion of reading. As a comedian, he became widely known through regular appearances on several television programs. However, for more than 20 years, he has also traveled across the country as a storyteller of traditional tales, with performances in Spain, Argentina, Cape Verde, Macau, Canada, and Luxembourg.

Comedy marks the return of Serões à Mesa at Forno da Telha, with more dates and performances to be discovered over the coming months.

The program costs €45 per person, including dinner, beverages, and the show. Children ages 6 to 12 receive a 50% discount.

Forno da Telha is open every day, serving its regular menu from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The restaurant has 80 seats, including private spaces for groups.
